RGD Table Get Next IdThis is a featured page

There are may times when a stored procedure needs to get the next sequential record ID. E.G. a batch upload of data into a table, or programatically creating a record etc.

The next sequential number for a table is usually stored in the %SK% record in the dictionary of the table.

The RGD_TABLE_GETNEXTID function will return the next available record ID for the specified table. You can specify a custom counter record or use the %SK% default counter.
